Control Charts types

Quantum XL supports control charts for both variables and attributes data.

Variables data in subgroups

XbarR and XbarS charts are used when you have continuous measurement data.

  • XbarR chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > XbarR

Creates two control charts. The first chart (Xbar chart) is a chart for subgroup means (averages). The second chart is the R chart, which displays subgroup ranges.

  • XbarS chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > XbarS

Creates two control charts. The first chart (Xbar chart) is a chart for subgroup means (averages). The second chart is the S chart, which displays subgroup standard deviation.

Variables data for individuals

IMR chart is used when you have continuous measurement data, for individuals data.

  • IMR chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > IMR

Creates two control charts. The first chart (Individuals chart) plots each point from a dataset. The second chart is the Moving Range chart.

  • ZMR chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > ZMR

Creates a standardized individual chart (Z chart) with a moving range (MR Chart). Also called a "short run" control chart. For more information see ZMR Control Charts.

Attribute data

Attribute charts are used for the data that comes from pass/fail inspection, like counts of defects.

  • p Chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > p Chart

A control chart for defectives. Displays the proportion of defectives in each subgroup.

  • np Chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > np Chart

A control chart for defectives. Displays the number of defectives in each subgroup.

  • c Chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > c Chart

A control chart for defects. Displays the number of defects in each subgroup.

  • u Chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > u Chart

A control chart for defects. Displays the number of defects per unit sampled in each subgroup.

Rare Event Charts

Charts used when the time between events is less than 1.

  • G-Chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > G-Chart

A control chart for data that represents the count between rare events.

  • T-Chart

    Menu Command

    QXL Stat Tools Tab > Control Charts > T-Chart

A control chart for measured time intervals between rare events.
