Create Design

From Excel click...

QXL DOE Tab > Design Wizard

Quantum XL includes a design wizard that will step you through the process of creating a design. The wizard can be started by selecting "QXL DOE Tab" > "Design Wizard" from the ribbon.

If you would like direct control over the design creation, the following designs are also included.

Modeling

  • 2-Level Factorial: Create 2-Level Full or Fractional Factorial designs with up to 15 factors.

  • 3-Level Factorial: Create 3-Level Full Factorial designs with up to 12 factors. These designs are limited to 12 as 13 factors would exceed the number of rows in Excel (1 million).

  • N-Level Factorial: Create N-Level Factorial designs. These designs can have more than 3 levels (2, 3, 4, … levels) and can be mixed level (2-level factors, 3-level factors, and more levels in the same design).

  • Central Composite Designs (CCD): Create CCD, or Box-Wilson, designs with up to 10 factors. CCD designs are 3-Level designs built from a 2-Level factorial design.

  • Box-Behnken (BB): 3-Level designs with up to 10 factors.

Screening

  • Plackett-Burman: Create 2-Level designs which do not include interactions with up to 47 factors.

  • Taguchi: Create designs without interactions. Taguchi designs include some which are exclusively 2-Level (L4, L8, L12, L16, and L32), some which are exclusively 3-Level (L9, L27), and some which are mixed 2/3-Level (L18, L36, and L54).

Special

  • Setup Historical Analysis: Quantum XL will analyze historical data which doesn't come from a "Designed" experiment. Most of the analyses are available such as regression, graphing, and optimization. Setup Historical Analysis steps you through the process of getting the analysis setup.

  • Create Custom Design: Allows you to create a custom design for your specific application. See also D-Optimal designs.

  • D-Optimal Designs: Computer generated designs that maximize the determinate of the information matrix (X'X).

Import

  • Import from DOE Pro: Converts design sheet from DOE Pro XL format to Quantum XL format.
