Options¶

Every control on the Create MSA Template dialog. The dialog holds a list of templates to be written, and the settings below apply to the template selected in that list.

Managing the list¶

Control	What it does
Add Template	Adds another template to the list. Each one is written as its own block on the worksheet, below the previous block
Remove	Removes the selected template from the list before anything is written

Data Format¶

Choice	What it collects
Quantitative (Variable)	measured values, for the Crossed, Nested and Extended analyses
Qualitative (Attribute)	pass and fail ratings, for the attribute MSA tools

An attribute template is laid out for ratings rather than measurements, and its instructions describe setting the accept and reject labels, which default to 1 and 0.

Reference Values¶

Choice	Effect
I have reference values for the parts	the template includes a column for the known true value of each part
I do not have reference values	no reference column is written

A reference column is what turns on the bias and linearity part of the analysis, which is the only part that can say whether the measurement system reads correctly rather than merely consistently. If the true values are known, include the column.

Reference Values Format¶

Shown when the template includes reference values. Quantitative (Variable) or Qualitative (Attribute), matching the kind of reference value you have. For an attribute template the reference entries use the same accept and reject labels as the ratings.

Template Size¶

Control	What it sets
Number of operators:	how many operator trial column groups the table gets
Number of replications:	how many times each operator measures each part, so how many trial columns per operator
Number of parts:	how many part rows the table gets

The table the template writes is the product of the three, so a study with 3 operators, 10 parts and 2 replications gives 60 measurement cells.

Two of these carry a note on the dialog itself:

Number of operators: and Number of replications: are marked fixed for the Analytic method. The Analytic method requires an exact layout, so it sets both rather than taking what you type.
Number of parts: is marked minimum 8.

Analysis method¶

The footer carries an Analysis method: label showing which analysis the template is being built for. The choice drives the layout, the instructions written beside the table, and which of the size controls above are fixed.
