Modify Analysis

QXL Stat Tools > Modify. Re-opens the dialog that built the analysis on the active worksheet, filled in with the settings it was built with, so you can change any of them and run it again.

Modify changes settings. Update changes nothing and only refreshes the data. That is the whole difference between the two buttons.

Steps

  1. Click anywhere on the analysis worksheet.
  2. QXL Stat Tools > Modify. The tool's own dialog opens, showing what it was run with.
  3. Change what you need to. Every control is the one on that tool's Options page.
  4. Press Finish. The worksheet is rebuilt from the new settings.

Changing the data as well as the options

Press Back from the first page of the dialog to reach the Data Selection window, where the range, the orientation and the header setting live. Change them, press Next to come forward again, and finish as usual.

Where to stand

On the worksheet the analysis wrote. On a sheet with no Quantum XL analysis the command says No Quantum XL analysis was detected on this worksheet. and stops.

Two kinds of analysis sheet, and Modify handles both

Quantum XL works out which tool built the sheet first, exactly as Update does:

The sheet was built by What Modify opens
a v18 tool: any control chart, any analysis tool, the MSA studies that tool's own dialog, filled in
a tool from the previous version that version's own settings dialog

The two look different, because they are different dialogs. A sheet made by a previous-version tool is modified through that version's interface, and the pages in this help system describe the v18 dialogs.

Control charts have a third way

A control chart also has a task pane, which changes what is displayed without rebuilding the sheet: the window of points shown, the markers, the reference lines. Modify is for the things the pane cannot touch, such as the estimation method and the limits. Each chart's Task Pane page says which is which, and Updating and Modifying Control Charts covers the split.

If an analysis is still running

A Quantum XL analysis is still running. Wait for it to finish, then try again.
