Capability Scorecard

Calculate defect rates (DPU, DPO, DPMO) for multiple parts or processes simultaneously.

What is a Capability Scorecard?

A capability scorecard analyzes defect data across multiple parts or processes. You provide the number of units inspected, defects found, and optionally the number of opportunities per unit. Quantum XL produces a summary table with DPU (Defects Per Unit), DPO (Defects Per Opportunity), and DPMO (Defects Per Million Opportunities) for each row, plus two Pareto charts showing which parts or processes contribute the most defects.

When to Use a Capability Scorecard

  • When you need to identify which processes or parts have the highest defect rates
  • When you want to compare defect rates across multiple processes or product lines
  • When you need to prioritize improvement efforts using DPU and DPMO rankings
  • When you want a single dashboard summarizing defect performance

Example Output

A typical capability scorecard shows a formatted table with each process step's defect metrics (DPU, DPO, DPMO) and a totals row, accompanied by two Pareto charts — one sorted by DPU and one by DPMO — highlighting the biggest contributors to defects.
