Surface and Contour Plot Options

Every control in the Surface and Contour Plot window. It collects the selection and nothing else: there is no sampling method and no simulation count, because the tool runs no simulation.

Inputs

One row per marked input, each with a tick, a low and a high.

The low and the high are yours. The dialog fills them in from the engine as a starting default, and from the moment you edit one it is used exactly as typed. Nothing narrows, widens or clips it.

A box you have not touched sweeps the exact default, not the number you can see in it. The rounding in the boxes is for display only, so a default of 12.3456789 shows shortened and still sweeps in full. Typing in a box replaces that: from then on the box holds exactly what you typed. Tabbing into a box selects its contents, so typing replaces the value rather than adding to it.

Two or more inputs must be ticked, because a chart is a pair:

Choose two or more inputs to plot.

Choose at least one more input: a chart needs two.

At most 20 inputs can be plotted at once. Every unordered pair becomes a chart, so the chart count grows quickly with the number of inputs.

Each row is checked:

Problem What it says
the low is not a number The low for Pressure is not a number.
the high is not a number The high for Pressure is not a number.
the two are equal The low and the high for Pressure are the same number. They must be different.
they are the wrong way round The low for Pressure must be below its high.

Outputs

Tick the outputs to draw. At least one is required, and at most 20:

Choose at least one output.

Each chosen output gets its own worksheet, per chart type.

Charts to Draw

Interaction Plot, Surface Plot, Contour Plot. At least one:

Choose at least one chart type.

What the run will make

The footer states what the current selection produces before you commit to it, and shows the problem line when something is unresolved. A selection the engine itself refuses is reported as it words it:

This selection cannot be plotted: ...
