Create Designs

Everything on the Design group of the ribbon: the wizard that picks a design for you, the nine design types you can build directly, the import from DOE PRO XL, and the commands that change a design after it exists.

Two ways in

Design Wizard Create Design
Ribbon QXL DOE New > Design Wizard QXL DOE New > Create Design > type
You choose how many levels and factors, then a design from a shortlist the design type first
Pages you see five to nine short pages, one question each, depending on the route one to five pages, depending on the design type

Both end in the same place: a worksheet called DOE Design with one row per run. See Design Wizard and Create Design.

The design types

The Create Design menu groups them under four headings, and those headings are part of the menu you see.

The pages the design types share

Two of the builder's pages are the same whichever type you are building, so they are described once:

The factor page is not shared. Which one you get depends on the design type:

Design type The factor page
2-level factorial, CCD, Box-Behnken, Plackett-Burman Enter Factor Names and Coding, described on Factor Names and Coding
3-level and N-level factorial Enter factor names and factor levels, which also sets the number of factors
Taguchi Factors, see Taguchi Designs

Custom Design and D-Optimal do not use any of those factor pages. Each has a builder of its own, described on Create Custom Design and Create Optimal Design.

Changing a design you already have

Modify Design covers all thirteen entries on the Modify Design menu: nine open one dialog at the page that matches the entry, and four act on the sheet with no dialog.
